Beginner Art Classes

Our diverse catalog of Beginner Art Classes in Toronto is designed for people who have never made art before or learners who want to hone their skills and get feedback in a fun community classroom. You will have fun in our courses while learning the foundational skills to gain confidence in your art-making. Courses are designed so that you can work on your ideas and concepts while getting feedback from an experienced Artist Educator. 

WaterColour Class

This beginner watercolour painting class introduces you to the fundamental principles of watercolour, from mixing to creating form to building with layers. We encourage learners to experiment and have fun with the possibilities the classic medium has to offer.

Students will learn from an Artist Educator who will demonstrate and provide critiques throughout the course.

Collage Classes

Have you ever felt the need for creative expression but were overwhelmed by the process of drawing and painting? Our collage class may be the answer for you. Experience the relaxing and rewarding benefits of expressing your creative self, where collage encourages you to get lost in the moment, de-stress, and increased dopamine levels. Students will learn compositional strategies and a variety of collage mediums and approaches.
 
Students will learn from an Artist Educator who will guide you through collaging concepts, assembly, and the finishing using different, materials, techniques and hands-on approaches.

Acrylic Painting Class

This beginner painting and drawing course in Toronto is for those who have never painted or drawn and want to learn the basics! Or for those who have dabbled and want some foundational instruction and feedback. Classes begin with three intro lessons on techniques and skills. For the final three classes, students will work through their own large final art pieces with personalized instruction. Students can choose between abstract, landscape and portrait paintings for their final project.

Abstract Art Class

This abstract painting class in Toronto will introduce students to the fundamental principles of composition while encouraging learners to think abstractly and discover how to create their own abstract art style by exploring colour, pattern, shape, line, and expressive mark-making. Abstract painting students taking our beginner abstract painting classes in Toronto will create projects that explore abstract art's possibilities towards developing a stronger visual language of expression.

Students will learn from an Art Educator who will provide demonstrations and critiques throughout the course.
